ICC Announces Neutral Venue for India-Pakistan Matches
Pakistan to Host ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 with Neutral Venue Arrangements
ICC Confirms Hosting Rights for Major Cricket Events
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has confirmed that India and Pakistan hosted matches at ICC events will be played at a neutral venue during the 2024-2027 rights cycle. This decision applies to several upcoming ICC events, including the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025, ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, and ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.
The ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025, hosted by Pakistan, will be played across Pakistan and a neutral venue in February and March 2025. The event will feature eight teams, including Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, New Zealand, and South Africa, alongside hosts Pakistan.
In return, Pakistan’s matches in ICC events hosted by India will also take place at a neutral venue. This agreement will apply to all ICC events from 2024-2027, including the 2025 men’s Champions Trophy in Pakistan, the 2025 women’s ODI World Cup in India, and the 2026 men’s T20 World Cup co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka.
The choice of neutral venue will be made by the tournament host and will need to be approved by the ICC. The PCB has to propose a neutral venue within 24 hours of the resolution being passed, with the UAE and Sri Lanka being potential options.
Additionally, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has been awarded hosting rights for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in 2028, with neutral venue arrangements also applying.
