WPL 2025 player auction to be held in Bengaluru on December 15

New Delhi (Daily Pakistan Online) The 2025 Women’s Premier League (WPL) player auction is scheduled to take place in Bengaluru on December 15, marking a significant milestone in the tournament’s third edition. The five-team tournament is expected to commence from the first week of February 2025.
According to tournament guidelines, Indian players must register for the auction by December 4, 5 pm IST. The five franchises, including defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), have a budget of INR 15 crore to build their squads for the 2025 season, a significant increase from INR 13.5 crore in the previous auction.
A total of 19 slots will be filled at the auction, with five reserved for overseas players. The base price for capped players entering the auction ranges from INR 30 lakh to INR 50 lakh, while uncapped players can register for INR 10 lakh to INR 20 lakh.
The franchises’ auction purses have been revealed, with Gujarat Giants holding the largest purse of INR 4.4 crore. RCB will enter the auction with INR 3.25 crore, followed by UP Warriorz with INR 3.9 crore. Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians will have purses of INR 2.5 crore and INR 2.65 crore, respectively.
While the tournament schedule is yet to be finalized, sources indicate that the 2025 season is expected to start in the first week of February and conclude by March. The venues for the tournament are still to be confirmed, with no word on whether the caravan model will be followed for the third season.
