Islamabad (Daily Pakistan Online) In a move that is likely to exacerbate the economic woes of the common man, petrol prices are expected to rise from December 01 by Rs3.15 per litre, while high-speed diesel (HSD) may see an increase of Rs3.20 per litre. Kerosene oil prices are also expected to surge by Rs4 per litre, sources revealed.
This potential price hike is attributed to fluctuations in global crude oil prices, which have impacted import costs. However, the government’s inability to provide relief to the common man is alarming. The constant increase in fuel prices has led to a surge in transportation costs, inflationary pressures on essential commodities, and a significant decline in the purchasing power of the common man.
The current prices of petrol, HSD, kerosene oil, and light diesel oil (LDO) are already exorbitant, standing at Rs248.38, Rs255.14, Rs161.54, and Rs147.51 per litre, respectively. The proposed price hike will only add to the misery of the common man, who is already struggling to make ends meet.
The government’s failure to control inflation and provide relief to the common man is a cause for concern. The constant increase in fuel prices has led to a decline in economic growth, and the government’s inability to address this issue is alarming.
It is high time for the government to take concrete steps to control inflation, provide relief to the common man, and ensure that the economy is back on track. The proposed price hike should be reconsidered, and alternative measures should be taken to reduce the burden on the common man.
