Hunters Get Free Rein as Punjab Govt Opens Up Grey Partridge Hunting

LAHORE (Daily Pakistan Online) The Punjab Wildlife Department has announced a two-month hunting season for grey partridges across the province. This decision was made under the directives of Senior Minister Maryam Aurangzeb to promote sustainable hunting and reduce hunting pressure.

The hunting season will commence on December 1, 2024, and conclude on January 31, 2025. Hunters are required to obtain a valid permit, and hunting is only allowed on Sundays. Additionally, hunters must possess a valid arms license and permit.

There are specific rules and regulations in place to ensure sustainable hunting practices. For instance, the number of birds that can be hunted is limited, and hunting is prohibited in protected areas, community-based conservation areas, and defense installations.

Other restrictions include the prohibition of automatic firearms, vehicles, and guns used by the military, police, or other forces. Hunters are also not allowed to hunt from vehicles.
