Islamabad (Daily Pakistan Online) The Supreme Court Bar Association has lauded the institutional action taken against retired Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed, hailing it as a significant step towards institutional self-realization.
According to Mian Rauf Atta, President of the Supreme Court Bar Association, the court martial of Faiz Hameed demonstrates that the concept of sacred cow has finally been abolished, and those who have misused their powers will be held accountable.
Atta emphasized that individuals like Hameed have not only tarnished the reputation of institutions but have also created a distance between the institution and the public. He stressed that it is essential for all institutions to work within constitutional limits.
The President of the Supreme Court Bar Association also noted that the initiation of action against such individuals is a positive step towards restoring public confidence in institutions.
The court martial of Faiz Hameed is a significant development, as he is the first former intelligence chief in Pakistan’s history to face such action. The charges against him include engaging in political activities, violating the Official Secrets Act, misusing authority, and causing wrongful loss to individuals.
