Moscow (Daily Pakistan Online) Russian President Vladimir Putin is set to visit India in early 2025, following an invitation from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This will be Putin’s first trip to India since the Russia-Ukraine conflict began in 2022. Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov confirmed that Putin and PM Modi have an agreement to hold meetings once a year, and it’s Russia’s turn this time.
The two leaders have been in regular contact, holding talks over phone calls every couple of months, and have also met in person twice this year.
PM Modi visited Russia in July to participate in the 22nd Russia-India summit, where he was conferred with Russia’s highest national award, “The Order of St. Andrew the Apostle,” for his contribution to fostering India-Russia ties.
India has consistently advocated for a peaceful resolution to the Russia-Ukraine conflict, with PM Modi emphasizing the need for diplomacy during his meetings with Putin. The upcoming visit is expected to strengthen the bilateral relationship between India and Russia, with discussions likely to focus on key areas such as defense, energy, and trade.
