PTI Rally Precautions: Lahore’s Ring Road to be Sealed Off for Two Days

LAHORE (Daily Pakistan Online) The capital city has been placed on high alert ahead of a planned rally by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party. The Lahore police have issued a notification to the Commandant of the Ring Road, directing them to seal off the road on November 23 and 24, from 8 am to 6 pm.
The notification cites concerns that “miscreants” may disrupt peace and order, and that the closure is necessary to maintain law and order. The Lahore police have also expressed concerns that the PTI may stage a protest before departing for Islamabad.
Meanwhile, the GT Road has been blocked at the Channab Toll Plaza in Gujranwala, with containers placed on both sides of the road. Public transport to Islamabad has been partially suspended.
In anticipation of the rally, the Islamabad Red Zone has been sealed off, and Section 144 has been imposed in the twin cities. Additional containers have been brought in to reinforce security, and extra personnel have been deployed to maintain order.
The city remains on high alert as the PTI rally is expected to draw large crowds and potential protests.
