Police Inspector and Official Martyred in Swat Encounter with Drug Peddlers

Swat (Daily Pakistan Online) Tragedy struck in Mingora city, Swat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as a police inspector and an official lost their lives in a brutal attack by drug peddlers. The incident occurred near People’s Chowk Abasin Market, within the limits of Banar police station, when the drug peddlers opened fire on a police team.

Inspector Rahim Khan, the SHO of Mangaluru police station, was martyred in the attack, while Head Constable Ataullah Shah sustained injuries and was rushed to Saidu Sharif Hospital, where his condition remains critical. In the ensuing police retaliatory action, one of the accused was killed, and his body was shifted to the hospital for formalities. However, the other accused managed to escape from the scene.

The police have launched a search operation in the area to apprehend the absconding accused. The deceased accused, identified as Sharif, son of Banjot, Mangaluru, was reportedly involved in drug peddling and had been on the police’s radar. This tragic incident highlights the risks and sacrifices made by law enforcement officials in their line of duty.
