LAHORE (Daily Pakistan Online) Pakistan may pull out of next year’s ICC Champions Trophy if the tournament’s hosting rights are taken away due to India’s refusal to play in Pakistan ¹. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has received an email from the ICC stating that the Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) will not send their team to Pakistan for the tournament.
The PCB has forwarded the matter to the Government of Pakistan for advice and guidance. PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi has ruled out a “hybrid model” where India plays their matches at a neutral venue, and the remaining tournament is played in Pakistan.
The government is considering asking the PCB to ensure Pakistan doesn’t participate in the Champions Trophy if the hosting rights are taken away. The government may also advise the PCB to refuse playing against India in any ICC or Asian Cricket Council tournaments until issues are resolved between the two countries
