London (Daily Pakistan Online) Malala Yousafzai, the Nobel Peace Prize laureate and renowned advocate for girls’ education, recently met with scholars supported by her Oxford Pakistan Programme (OPP) scholarships at Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford University. The gathering celebrated the transformative impact of the OPP initiative, which enables talented students from Pakistan to access world-class education at Oxford.
This year, three exceptional women Zainab Aziz and Ayeda Hamid from Pakistan, and Suha Albanna from Palestine – received Malala scholarships to pursue graduate degrees at Oxford. During the meeting, Malala engaged in a private discussion with the scholars, exploring their journeys and aspirations. She later attended a reception with members of the Pakistani scholars’ community and distinguished guests, including Lady Margaret Hall Principal Stephen Blyth, Oxford Vice-Chancellor Irene Tracey, and OPP donors Suleman Raza and Hamid Ismail.
In her address, Malala praised the OPP’s efforts in empowering scholars, particularly women, and underscored the pivotal role of education in driving societal progress. “Initiatives like OPP have the potential to change Pakistan’s future by equipping scholars with the knowledge and skills to serve their communities,” she emphasized. The event highlighted the OPP’s dedication to fostering educational excellence and community building, with Malala expressing gratitude to donors and reiterating her vision of a brighter, education-driven future for Pakistan.
