Islamabad (Daily Pakistan Online) In a significant development, the Ministry of Law has been directed to finalize the National Commission for Minorities Bill 2024 within a tight deadline of three days. This directive was issued by a ministerial committee chaired by Rana Sanaullah, Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination and Adviser to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs.
A crucial meeting was held at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, attended by key figures including Minister of Religious Affairs Chaudhry Salik Hussain, Minister of Law and Justice Azam Nazir Tarar, and Minister of Planning Ahsan Iqbal. The meeting focused on reviewing the National Commission for Minorities Bill 2024, which aims to promote the rights and interests of minority communities in Pakistan.
According to Minister of Law and Justice Azam Nazir Tarar, the National Commission for Minorities will comprise 13 members, with 9 members hailing from minority communities. This move is seen as a significant step towards ensuring representation and protection of minority rights in Pakistan.
Furthermore, the ministerial committee has instructed the relevant authorities to present the inter-faith harmony policy and the policy for promoting religious tolerance in the federal cabinet meeting for final approval. This development underscores the government’s commitment to fostering a culture of tolerance, understanding, and coexistence among different faith communities in Pakistan.
