Husband Sets Wife Ablaze in Car, Kills Her and Leaves Friend Fighting for Life

New Delhi (Daily Pakistan Online) A horrific incident has shaken the state of Kerala, India, after a man set his wife’s car ablaze, killing her and leaving her friend critically injured. According to Kerala Police, the incident occurred on Tuesday at around 8:30 pm in Kollam City East police station limits.

The victim, 44-year-old Anila, was traveling in her car with a male colleague when her husband, 60-year-old Padmarajan, intercepted their vehicle in a van. In a fit of rage, Padmarajan allegedly threw petrol into the car through the window and set it on fire. Both vehicles were completely gutted in the blaze.

Anila succumbed to her injuries on the spot, while her friend was rushed to the hospital with severe burn injuries. The police have arrested Padmarajan, who surrendered shortly after the incident.

According to investigators, the motive behind the crime appears to be familial discord. Padmarajan suspected Anila of having an illicit relationship with her business partner, with whom she co-owned a bakery. This suspicion allegedly drove him to commit the heinous act.

The police have launched an investigation into the incident, and Padmarajan remains in custody. The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, highlighting the dangers of domestic violence and the need for greater support for victims of abuse.
