A significant Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the University of Gwadar (UoG), Pak-China Technical and Vocational Institute (PCTVI), and Institute of International Relations & Media Research (IIRMR) in Gwadar. This landmark agreement aims to broaden the CPEC-driven skill landscape in Gwadar, leveraging China’s development role and Gwadar port’s global appeal.
The MoU marks a first-of-its-kind holistic collaboration, with IIRMR, a national-level “Think Tank,” entering into a formal agreement with UoG, the sole educational institution of higher education in Gwadar, and PCTVI, the first professional institute gifted by China for imparting modern skilled trainings to Gwadar’s youth.
According to UoG Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Syed Manzoor Ahmed, the MoU promises a resilient role in shaping CPEC’s 2.0 (Phase II) with the involvement of all stakeholders, particularly Gwadar’s youth and communities. IIRMR President Yasir Habib Khan emphasized that the agreement will help tap into unexplored areas of technical and vocational development, stimulating a deeper understanding of CPEC growth doctrines.
The MoU aims to establish a collaborative relationship between IIRMR and UoG, promoting activities such as seminars, consultative dialogues, and research conferences . These initiatives will focus on economic development, skilled labor needs, socio-cultural landscape, and the role of China in Gwadar’s development. Both UoG and IIRMR agree to foster exchange research and best practices related to creating employment pathways for Balochistan’s youth.
