Elephant Tragedy: Sonia, Beloved Queen of Karachi’s Safari Park, Dies Suddenly

Karachi (Daily Pakistan Online) Sonia, the beloved resident elephant at Karachi’s Safari Park, passed away suddenly last night, sources confirmed. According to Safari Park officials, staff discovered Sonia’s lifeless body upon arriving at the facility in the morning. The 22-23-year-old elephant was reportedly in good health prior to her untimely demise.

Sonia, who held the title of queen alongside fellow elephant Madhubala, had been residing at the Safari Park for some time. Recently, Madhubala was transferred from the Karachi Zoo to the Safari Park, joining Sonia. Following Sonia’s passing, the Safari Park now hosts two elephants.

Safari Park Director Amjad Zaidi shared that Sonia’s death appeared to be sudden, speculating that a heart attack may have been the cause. However, an official post-mortem examination will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.

The Safari Park community mourns the loss of Sonia, a cherished member of the park’s animal family. An investigation into the circumstances surrounding her passing will provide further insight into the incident.
