Islamabad (Daily Pakistan Online) The Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) has taken swift action against counterfeit and substandard medications, banning the sale and use of eight batches of fake and substandard drugs. This move comes after a crackdown in Punjab, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where diabetes and eight life-saving drugs were seized.
According to the details, the Central Drug Testing Lab Karachi declared the seized drug batches substandard. The affected drugs include Batch 39224 of sugar tablets Amplimet XR, Batch IA 702 of antibiotic injection Esanex, and several others. The quality and efficacy of these fake drugs are unclear, and their use may affect treatment outcomes.
DRAP has directed authorities to take measures to prevent the circulation of fake and substandard medicines. A thorough investigation of the supply chain is also underway to identify and seize batches of counterfeit medications. The authority has urged the public to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity related to the sale of fake medicines.
