Islamabad (Daily Pakistan Online) Defense Minister Kharija Asif has dropped a bombshell, revealing that Lieutenant General (retd) Faiz Hamed was instrumental in bringing Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan to power. Asif made these explosive claims while addressing the media at the Parliament House, stating that the partnership between Hamed and Khan began on May 9 and continued thereafter.
According to Asif, evidence will soon come to light, exposing the rigging that took place in the 2018 elections. The Defense Minister also lamented that during Khan’s tenure, numerous civilians were subjected to military trials. Asif emphasized that the law will ultimately decide whether Khan will face a military trial.
Asif further criticized Khan’s supporters for highlighting the deaths of 12 individuals in D-Chowk while ignoring the sacrifices of Rangers and police personnel. He accused them of playing the provincialism card, which he believes is their last resort. Asif expressed skepticism about the prospects of a civil disobedience movement, questioning why those with children living in Pakistan are reluctant to provide financial support.
The Defense Minister’s revelations have sparked intense debate and speculation about the nature of Hamed and Khan’s relationship. The allegations of rigging in the 2018 elections have also raised questions about the legitimacy of Khan’s government. As the situation continues to unfold, one thing is clear: the political landscape of Pakistan is about to undergo a significant transformation.
