Lahore (Daily Pakistan Online) In a move aimed at rejuvenating the education sector, the School Education Department has initiated a process to encourage voluntary retirement among its aging teaching staff.
To facilitate this, the department has sought data from the District Education Authorities, specifically requesting information on teachers aged 50 and 55 who are willing to retire.
Additionally, the department has asked for details on teachers who have completed 25 years of service, making them eligible for retirement.
The department’s directive also requires schools to provide records of the date of birth, posting, designation, and educational qualifications of the teachers in question.
This move is seen as an effort to streamline the education system and make way for newer talent. Notably, the School Education Department currently employs 12,000 matriculation pass and over 8,000 F-pass teachers, highlighting the need for revitalization within the sector.
