Islamabad (Daily Pakistan Online) The National Assembly has been informed that a staggering 86,000 SIMs have been blocked due to alleged anti-state activities. This revelation came to light after Asia Naz Tanoli presented a call-to-attention notice, highlighting the rampant spread of fake news on social media platforms.
In response to the notice, the Parliamentary Secretary disclosed that the government has taken concrete measures to curb the menace of fake news and anti-state activities. Apart from blocking the 86,000 SIMs, the secretary also confirmed that the social networking website ‘X’ has been blocked.
Furthermore, the Parliamentary Secretary announced that amendments to the Electronic Crimes Act will be made soon, aiming to strengthen the country’s cyber laws and prevent the misuse of digital platforms. This move is expected to provide a more effective framework for tackling online harassment, fake news, and anti-state activities.
