Multan (Daily Pakistan Online) Jahangir Khan Tareen, a prominent Pakistani businessman, emphasized the crucial role of farmers in Pakistan’s economy during his visit to JK Sugar Mills in Mian Channu on December 2, 2024. Accompanied by his son, Ali Khan Tareen, Jahangir Tareen interacted with local farmers and reviewed the mill’s operations, highlighting the significance of a stable agricultural economy for Pakistan’s progress.
He stressed that the sugar industry plays a vital role in strengthening Pakistan’s economic foundation, fulfilling domestic needs, and earning valuable foreign exchange. He also acknowledged the pivotal role of farmers in the country’s agricultural sector, stating, “Farmers are the backbone of our economy, and their progress will strengthen and foster economic growth.”
During his interaction with farmers, Tareen reassured them of his commitment to their welfare, ensuring timely payments and providing the best possible facilities. He also highlighted that JK Mills is paying PKR 400 per maund to farmers as part of their commitment to fair practices.
Farmers expressed their gratitude to Tareen and the mill’s management for their dedication to resolving challenges faced by sugarcane suppliers.
