LAHORE (Daily Pakistan Online) Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Emir Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has demanded the immediate resignation of Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, holding him responsible for the D-Chowk incident.
Addressing a press conference at Mansoorah, Rehman condemned the government’s actions, calling the firing incident at D-Chowk a “brutal warning” to the nation not to protest against the government. He termed it a “fascist act” that is unacceptable.
Rehman also called for the formation of an empowered and credible judicial commission to investigate the incident. He criticized the government for suppressing public dissent and curbing media freedom, urging the immediate withdrawal of false cases against journalists Matiullah Jan and Shakir Awan.
The JI chief also questioned the absence of PTI leadership during the chaos at D-Chowk, stating that political parties should not abandon their workers during difficult times. He emphasized the need for broader political consensus to heal the wounds of the people.
Rehman criticized the government’s economic policies, dismissing claims of improvement in the stock market as mere speculation. He highlighted the growing disconnect between the military and the public, urging institutions to rethink their approach.
