Hamid Mir blasts govt: Fake FIRs, fake elections, fake democracy

By Muzaffar Ali
Renowned Pakistani journalist Hamid Mir has expressed his outrage over the recent FIR lodged against Matiullah Jan, a fellow journalist. Mir drew parallels between the current government’s tactics and the controversial election results of February 8, suggesting that the government is using fake FIRs to silence journalists, just as it allegedly relied on fake election results to assume power ¹.

Mir, known for his fearless criticism of those in power, alleged that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi are behind the fake FIRs. He emphasized that this tactic is a clear attempt to intimidate and silence journalists who dare to speak truth to power.

As a veteran journalist who has faced numerous challenges and threats throughout his career, Mir’s comments carry significant weight. His show, Capital Talk, has been a platform for discussing pressing national issues and holding those in power accountable.
